BCVP Expands the Team

We have an exciting update! We’ve expanded our team. Carly Connell has joined as a Principal and Joseph Dougherty has joined as an Analyst.

Carly and Joseph join BCVP with a shared mission: to partner closely with founders from the very first check through scaling, ensuring every portfolio company receives hands-on, strategic support tailored to their growth journey.

Carly joins BCVP from Deloitte’s Emerging Growth Company practice, where she advised venture-backed startups on audit, tax, and strategic finance. She brings a practical, operator’s perspective shaped by close work with founders navigating growth and complexity. Carly was also part of the founding team behind the Agora Initiative, supporting women founders across the Washington DC venture ecosystem. Carly remains active in the community though her board service with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake and Johnston County. She holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Joseph joins BCVP with a strong early-stage investing foundation across venture scouting, financial analysis, and founder support. He runs a Pre-Seed–Series A newsletter highlighting companies currently raising capital and previously collaborated with another VC firm to help build a deal-flow outsourcing platform, leading a development team out of UNC. Joseph brings analytical rigor and a competitive, team-oriented mindset shaped by collegiate tennis at Elon and rowing at UNC. He holds a BA from UNC.
